ABSTRACT:
Load frequency plays an important role in power plant and any slight variation in frequency may cause all the generators fall out of synchronism and generation will get interrupted. The load Frequency control loop(LFC) controls the real power and frequency.
Whenever load on the power system is increased the turbine Speed drops before the governor can adjust the input to the new load. One way to restore the speed or frequency to its nominal value is to add an integrator.
Finally the requirement of reactive power and voltage regulation and the influence on stability of both speed and excitation controllers with use of suitable feedback signals are studied.
MATLAB provides an excellent environment for modeling and programming. It has great flexibility and utility for engineering applications.
SIMULINK is a visual modeling tool, which works on MATLAB shell. Its visual interface provides a unique way for the verification of system response.
