Abstract - Intelligent buildings, when compared to traditional buildings reduce energy consumption, reduce maintenance and service operation costs, provide improved security services, improve ease of layout planning and changing, and increase the satisfaction of building occupants. Achievement of these objectives involves mainly the optimum usage and placement of various sensors. Depending on the sensor’s attributes the coverage area of it will be different. Hence, Interactive visualization tool for sensor placement is developed to visualize the coverage area of a sensor and hence to help in the placement of sensors. The report discusses the need of the tool, the visibility algorithm and other modules used in developing the tool and the results achieved. There is still more to be added to the functionality of the tool. So, the report also gives an idea of how to achieve them.
